Last night I went to a cabaret in the area of Praça Mauá. Cool place. Very hip. Funny skits and arty stripteasers. At one point the DJ played Michael Jackson. The place burst into dance and mainly smiles and pure happiness.
When Princess Diana died everyone was shocked and sad.
When Lennon died everyone was shocked and sad.
But in this case everyone wants to rejoice and sing and dance and show how much a part of his or her life Jackson actually is. It's quite amazing. One Canadian choreographer with whom I spoke said she, in a way, that it was better that Jackson left us now for we were spared witnessing him get involved in more scandals and turning into an even bigger freak.
But Jackson gave the world so much joy when you think about it. We could only rejoice. Last night watching all those people partying I felt as if Santa Claus was born.
